La Livinière and the region

La Livinière is a small village in Minervois, Languedoc. The village is just north of the main road running between Toulouse and Montpellier. Carcassonne is 30 minutes away, Narbonne and the Mediterranean 45 minutes away. The village, with 700 inhabitants, is dominated by wine production and has been so for centuries. The original name Lavineira means a «place planted with vines».

La Livinière is part of the Minervois Apellation. Due to the exceptional terroir, La Livinière obtained status as Cru La Livinière in 1999. The wines are predominantly on a limestone plateau with an altitude of 80 to 300 meters. The wines are scattered in the garrigue and woods. There are stricter regulations on yields, plantings and choice of grapes, as well as maturation of the wines, for production of Cru La Livinière.

Our top wine, Cuvée SOMI, is a Cru La Livinière and has been awarded several prices at prestigious wine competitions both in France and abroad.
